The engine notes throughout the rev range sound fantastic but the party seems to be over quickly approaching the 7,400 rpm redline.
by AutoBlog Canada (Nov, 2012)
As for the Sony head unit, I liked how easy it was to use and how it could function as a navigation system, but I'm not sure I'd spend my money on it – especially considering for 2014 Scion has fitted all FR-S' with a standard touch-screen audio system.

What People Are Saying Give it to me straight

The smooth six-speed manual transmission's weighty feel invites accurate rev-matched shifts.
by MotorTrend
The flat-four sits low in the engine compartment, and even though Subaru stresses how far back the engine is compared with those in other Subies, it’s still surprisingly far forward.
by Car and Driver (Dec, 2011)
Available in just one trim, our FR-S came equipped with a six-speed manual transmission standard.
by MotorTrend

There are some differences in styling, and the FR-S gets a slightly different (better, in our opinion) rear suspension tune, but all share the same classic coupe proportions.
by The Car Connection (Sep, 2012)
You'll like the 2013 Scion FR-S if you want a reasonably-priced, excellent handling car that rewards and satisfies advanced drivers without posing a hazard to those with less experience.
by KBB (May, 2013)
Scion promises the FR-S' light weight, rigidity, weight distribution and suspension design and tuning will give drivers "exceptionally balanced performance and handling.
by MotorTrend

Balanced handling is the big draw but the Scion FR-S also delivers good, if not earth-scorching, acceleration and firm, confident brakes.
by KBB (May, 2013)
Again, the coupe exhibited excellent balance and poise as long as we were smooth with both throttle and braking inputs.
by AutoBlog (Apr, 2012)
It automatically downshifted several gears under braking, blipping the throttle each time, and it held the gears through the corners as to not unsettle the chassis.
by AutoBlog (Dec, 2011)

Standard equipment isn't bad for the $25,000 starting price, with Bluetooth, USB, keyless entry, and automatic climate control all included.
by The Car Connection (Sep, 2012)
One of the silver cars is a JDM Toyota GT 86 with a six-speed automatic transmission, while the other silver two-door is the subject of this review – a North American specification Scion FR-S with a six-speed manual gearbox.
by AutoBlog (Dec, 2011)
The automatic transmission has taller gears than the manual, a trick to deliver better fuel economy.
by AutoBlog (Apr, 2012)

Body style

We remained stupefied by the coupe's excellent handling, perfect balance and tossable driving dynamics.
by AutoBlog (Apr, 2012)
Add in excellent manners, physical attractiveness and a playful personality and we become more enamored with the new coupe each time we meet.
by AutoBlog (Apr, 2012)
The engineers consider the 2,758-pound coupe's 53/47 percent weight distribution as perfect, and we would have to agree.
