Conversely, the XFR never feels like anything other than what it is: a 4,306-pound sport sedan built to go fast with walloping torque and horsepower, handle well with mechanical engineering that stays ahead of its electronic assistance, finished in English luxury.

Jaguar's latest 5.0-liter V8 with direct injection and supercharged boost is, in a word, brilliant, especially when it's free to crank out all 510 horsepower and 461 pound-feet of torque in XFR guise.

Jaguar XFR
The beautiful cast alloy Selector has already gained recognition for its part in the distinctive XF 'welcoming handshake’; a sequence in which the illuminated stop/start button pulsates like a heartbeat until pressed, when the JaguarDrive Selector™ rises into the driver’s hand and the rotating fascia vents silently open.
And alongside these new engines, the naturally aspirated 4.2-liter V8 engine will continue to play a key role for the XF and will be available starting January 2009.

Jaguar XFR
Advances in lighting technology have allowed the new 2012 XF model range to adopt the bold Jaguar design language introduced on the flagship XJ saloon.
Sheetmetal revisions to the grille, bonnet and front wings incorporating new triangular side vents give the car a more muscular, purposeful appearance.
When cruising along at 60 MPH, when the button is hit the tachometer jumps up from just a tick under 2000 RPM to just below 4000 RPM waking up the feline’s engine, you can even feel the XFR’s electromagnetic dampeners stiffening up getting ready to do their job keeping the Jaguar stuck to the road with disrupting the vehicle’s luxurious ride, a very impressive feat considering the XFR’s rather hefty 4306 lb curb weight.
This much power allows the Jaguar XF R to accelerate from 0 to 60 MPH in just 4.7 seconds and reach an electronically limited top speed of 155 MPH while still returning around 15 MPG in the city and 21 MPG on the highway.
Also one hundred times a second, it predicts the roll-rate due to steering inputs, and selectively increases damping forces to reduce that roll-rate – improving feel and driver confidence – as well as analysing fore and aft pitch rate due to throttle and braking inputs, and again varies damping forces to reduce pitch, further improving comfort and control.
So, working with DSC, the TCS traction control system and ABS braking function, ADC can significantly improve overall vehicle performance, and provide even more precise driving feel.
